One of the joys of having bird feeders in your garden is the variety of birds that they attract. I am actually waiting for a sighting of the first Siskin of the season, but as yet, no joy. That isn't to say though that the garden isn't full of other birds that just make you feel good to see them. The most exotic looking has to be the goldfinch..... just a riot of colour which seem to particularly enjoy the sunflower hearts. For some reason, next door's garden attracts them in droves with just one or two stopping off this side of the fence to feed... but always worth the wait!

I was thinking while looking out of the window that it had been a while since I saw the Woodpecker in the garde when lo and behold, about ten minutes later on the squirrel proof feeder at the end of the

garden, there it was! It then went from the feeder to the tree. I'm guessing it's a regular visitor, just that it visits when I'm not watching.
